Boys & Girls Aid provides shelter services for at-risk, homeless, or runaway youth who need a safe place to live temporarily. Our certified Foster Families provide up to 90 days of shelter for youth ages 6-18 who are experiencing difficulties at home and need temporary safe housing.

Young women ages 12-18 who have experienced a great deal of turmoil in their young lives can develop nurturing, stable relationships in the Pettygrove Residential Program. During their nine-month stay, they learn positive discipline and life skills.

When 14-17 year old homeless or runaway youth have nowhere to go, our Safe Place shelter provides them 24/7 access to food, clothing, showers and bedrooms for up to 120 days. During their stay, they will benefit from positive role modeling, case management, and skill building activities, transportation and support to stay in school.  For more information, click here.

Our 18-month Transitional Living program provides housing and supportive services to youth ages 16 to 21 that lack the resources to successfully transition to adulthood. During their time in the program, they gain vital life skills, including money management, goal setting and job readiness.

We believe that youth play an integral role in planning their own futures and building on their strengths, and we utilize a Positive Youth Development philosophy while providing safe housing.

Youth Skill Development
Boys & Girls Aid steps up when young people experience an unstable or disruptive family life.

Our award-winning mentoring program, Mentor Portland, pairs compassionate, supportive adults with 10-14 year old at-risk youth who may have an incarcerated parent or are in foster care. Through this challenge-adventure program, youth develop improved social skills and trusting relationships.
