Bequests
If you'd like to leave a bequest to Boys & Girls Aid
in
your will or living trust, it is easy to do. You can
put in a provision when your will or living trust is first written
or you can ask your attorney to add a codicil to an existing will or
living trust. (Suggested language to include)
Charitable Gift Annuities
There are several ways to make a gift and receive income for life.
One of the ways is through a Charitable Gift Annuity. If you have a
highly appreciated asset that is not making enough income for you,
you can turn it into something that will give you more income. You
can gift the asset to The Boys & Girls Aid Society to create a
Charitable Gift Annuity and receive a fixed income for life. (Additional information)
Trusts
There are several other ways to create a life-income stream. Most
involve a charitable trust of some sort. Some trusts pay fixed
income and others are variable with the potential that income can
grow over time. One option is a Charitable Remainder Trust which
will provide you regular fixed or variable income. For more
information about Charitable Remainder Trusts or other charitable
trusts, please call the Society's Planned Giving Officer at
503.542.2321.
Retirement Funds
If you'd like to make an especially tax-smart gift and your biggest
asset is your retirement fund, you can give part of that fund to
help children after you're gone. All you need to do is change the
beneficiary designation to name Boys & Girls Aid as
a beneficiary for a percentage of your IRA (or 401k, 403b) account.
Just contact the manager of your plan for a change of beneficiary
form. (Additional information)
Life Insurance
If you have life insurance you no longer need, Boys & Girls
Aid can use it to help children. You can name Boys &
Girls
Aid as a sole, partial, or contingent beneficiary
of a life insurance policy simply by completing a change of
beneficiary form with your agent. You can also gift a paid up
policy to the Society. (Additional information)
Appreciated Securities
You can make a gift of appreciated securities to Boys & Girls
Aid. This kind of gift helps children immediately and can be
very tax-wise. Please call the Society at 503.542.2321 for
information on how to be sure the transaction goes smoothly.
