Give a child your hand.
Foster parents provide a temporary, safe home for Oregon's most vulnerable children. Giving a child stability and love during a critical time bridges the gap between an uncertain present and a positive, bright future.
The need for foster parents is constant. Consider helping a child in their time of need by opening your home and heart.
The Children
Children needing foster care are diverse in age, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. They cannot stay with their birth families for a variety of reasons, including abuse, neglect, abandonment, illness or death of a parent, emotional or behavioral problems, or involvement with the criminal justice system.

Qualifications
The most important qualification is the desire to provide help and hope. Foster parents may qualify regardless of marital status, sexual orientation, home ownership, type of housing, or work situation.
Foster parents must become certified by Boys & Girls Aid. To ensure the health and safety of children in our care, we must verify that you can provide a supportive environment. We work with you over a period of three months and make it as convenient for you as possible. The certification process involves meetings, home visits, references, criminal and medical checks, and 24 hours of training specifically related to the youth in your care.
Support for You
Foster parents receive initial and ongoing training and support, a tax-free stipend for every child per night of care, supplemental liability insurance, and 24-hour counseling support.
