They model appropriate behavior and positive attitudes that remain with the young person forever. They show love by caring enough to get involved.

Mentor Portland is a unique adventure mentoring program that
connects safe and caring adults with youth ages 8-14 who are in

Qualifications
The most important qualification is the desire to help a youth. Other criteria include:
- 21 years old or older
- Creativity and a sense of adventure
- Own a car or have access to one regularly
- Commitment of a year
- Sense of humor
- Understanding; patience; flexibility
- Desire to learn
- Desire to promote positive personal growth
- Appreciation of diversity
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
