Eryn & Mike
We are Mike and Eryn, and we are excited and hopeful to continue growing our family through adoption!
We met in college when we lived in the same dorm at the University of Portland. Shortly after developing a friendship we began to date and quickly became inseparable. We were and still are best friends. We had a perfect wedding in 2007 where we made commitments to each other in front of our family and friends.
We always knew that we wanted to have a family. Despite several years of not conceiving naturally, we held out hope that we’d be able to grow our family. Eventually, we began working with a physician who specialized in reproductive medicine and again felt confident that we would be able to become pregnant. We tried three cycles of in-vitro fertilization (one of which resulted in a miscarriage; the other two resulted in no pregnancy) before accepting that a different course was right for us. While this was a very difficult and sad time for us, exploring adoption brought us hope and excitement. And it was the best decision we ever made, because it brought Connor into our family! We adopted him through Boys and Girls Aid in July of 2016, and now we want to give him a brother or sister to grow up with.
We live in a wonderful neighborhood in Portland. It is a family neighborhood surrounded by a lot of young families and children. We know it will be the perfect place to raise our children with plenty of family nearby. We promise that our home will be a supportive and loving environment.
Family is very important to us, and we plan to ensure our children know how loved they are. Because of the strong family bonds we share, it is important to us to maintain a respectful and open relationship with you. We both believe strongly that having a connection to our child’s birth family is paramount to his or her development and self-esteem. We have a great relationship with Connor’s birth family and would love to develop one with you too. We believe openness with birthparents is essential for our child’s growth and development.
We wish you the best of luck with your extremely difficult decision. We would be honored to be selected as your adoptive family and look forward to creating a permanent, open relationship with you. Thank you for considering us! We wish you the best.
