Attachment Theory for Adoptive, Foster & Step Families

Building attachment with your current or future child is essential to stabilizing the family in the short and long-term. Successful parents benefit from understanding how the attachment dynamic functions in all relationships, especially the one they have with their children.

Boys & Girls Aid offers this engaging, fast-paced and child-focused training to parents and caregivers seeking to strengthen their parenting and find more opportunities for connection with their children.

In this training, participants will:

  • Learn about adult attachment styles

  • Build concrete skills in enhancing attachments for adopted children

  • Understand behaviors through an attachment lens

This training is delivered by Leah Brookner, PhD, MSW, MA, Assistant Professor of Practice at Portland State University.
