Youth Permanency

Boys & Girls Aid’s Permanency Services offer a unique approach to helping youth and families on their journey to permanency!

Highly trained Permanency Specialists engage youth in therapeutic activities to help them process feelings of loss and increase attachment to their caregivers.

What is Permanency?

Boys & Girls Aid believes that healthy, long-term connections to an adult creates support and guidance so the youth have the tools to transition to adulthood successfully. This idea is called Permanency.

Boys & Girls Aid’s Permanency Services are dedicated to helping young people establish and maintain lifelong connections with the people who matter most to them — relatives, friends, loved ones, and community support systems.

Models and Curriculum we use to achieve permanency

  • Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS)

  • Darla Henry's 3-5-7 Model©

  • Trust Based Relational Interventions (TBRI)

  • Crisis Prevention Interventions (CPI)

Our Programs

Trauma-Informed Permanency Prep

Boys & Girls Aid’s Permanency Specialists are highly trained in trauma-informed therapeutic practices designed to help youth process feelings of loss and build stronger, healthier bonds of trust and attachment with their caregivers.

Through individualized, one-on-one coaching, youth in our programs gain the essential skills needed to regulate their emotions and develop a sense of safety and security with trusted adults.

Available in Multnomah County/D2 via Portland Childrens Levy (PCL).

Family Support Services

Our Permanency Team serves as a consistent resource for caregivers, both before and after placement. For families in Clackamas County, we provide in-home, hands-on coaching to teach trauma-informed behavioral strategies such as Collaborative Problem Solving and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI).

After placement, our Permanency Specialists remain actively involved, offering guidance, reassurance, and help navigating the child welfare system to support long-term success.

Available in Clackamas County/D15.
