Youth Permanency

Youth Permanency services provide children with additional support as they transition to a permanent family.

Our permanency specialists meet one-on-one with youth, engaging them in therapeutic activities from Darla Henry's 3-5-7 Model, and Richard Rose's Therapeutic Life Story Work. These activities help youth process feelings of separation and loss, strengthen attachment to their caregivers, and prepare for long-term permanency.

In addition, families and caregivers  receive culturally responsive support and training focused on permanency preparation, attachment, and trauma-informed parenting.

Permanency Preparation

Boys & Girls Aid’s Permanency Specialists are highly trained in trauma-informed therapeutic practices designed to help youth process feelings of loss and build stronger, healthier bonds of trust and attachment with their caregivers.

Through individualized, one-on-one coaching, youth in our programs gain the essential skills needed to regulate their emotions and develop a sense of safety and security with trusted adults.

NEW: Permanency Preparation and Post-Permanency Support for Lane County

In partnership with ODHS Child Welfare, we are pleased to begin a new pilot program offering permanency preparation and post-permanency support services to District 5. For families with an active ODHS Child Welfare case, our Youth Permanency Specialists will meet with the child and family to help process feelings of loss and grief and create a service plan focused on improving Permanency Readiness.

Our Post-Permanency Support program offers direct, permanency-oriented activities, and caregiver coaching/education, AFTER finalization has occurred via ODHS Child Welfare. A service plan for improving Permanency Readiness is also used to guide the permanency goals and progress of the family. Youth Permanency Specialists assist with advocacy and affirmation of cultural communities that are important to the child and family.
