Infant Adoption Services

At Boys & Girls Aid, we want to give all children the opportunity to find a family, even if it’s not through our agency. That’s why we now offer infant adoption services to get you started with the adoption process right away. These services are available to residents of Oregon and southwest Washington and include:

  • Certified domestic infant adoption home studies

  • Post-placement services

  • Child-specific adoption services

To begin the process for any of these services, you will need to attend a free, online information session.

Home Studies

A home study is required in all states to adopt any child, whether an infant, toddler, or a child from the foster care system. Boys & Girls Aid adoption specialists can conduct your home study, prepare you with educational resources on how to use that home study, and get you started on your adoption journey.

Boys & Girls Aid operates from a solid ethical base, and our home studies are faster and more competitively priced than other agencies, at a cost of $3,000 plus travel expenses if necessary. The home study process takes about two months. You can choose to use your home study anywhere in the United States for a domestic adoption. Anyone with a completed Boys & Girls Aid home study is eligible to enter our full-service infant adoption program when there is an opening.

Home Study Process:

  1. All adult family members must attend a free information session, which are offered monthly. This is a state requirement.

  2. Complete an application and fee agreement.

  3. Pay home study fee of $3,000*.

  4. Complete criminal background check.

  5. Complete paperwork (physical, references, financials, questionnaire, etc.).

  6. Complete 10 hours of online adoption training, which is state mandated. Training costs between $150-$200.

  7. Complete interviews with adoption specialist.

  8. Complete your home safety check.

Anyone who receives a home study through Boys & Girls Aid is eligible to be admitted to our full-service adoption program, which covers Oregon and southwest Washington. As space opens up, the cost to enter the family pool is $12,000. This program includes:

  • Potential to be chosen by any Boys & Girls Aid birth parents

  • Matching

  • Birth parent support

  • 24 hour all-options counseling line

  • Adoption assistance application

  • Coordination with attorneys

  • Support from adoption specialist while you’re in the family pool at all times

  • Post-placement support

  • Lifetime post-adoption support

*If you live more than 60 miles from the adoption specialist, travel expenses may also apply.

Post-Placement Services

Per state mandate, all Oregon and southwest Washington families who adopt domestically must have post-placement supervision visits by a licensed adoption professional. If you adopt an infant from another state, we can also provide post-placement services as required by your finalizing state’s court.

These visits occur between the time a child is placed in your home and when the adoption is finalized. Boys & Girls Aid can conduct these post-placement visits, even if you didn't adopt through us. The cost for each required placement report is $500.

Child-Specific Adoption Services

Some families may already know the child they’d like to adopt. The child might be a family member, a child in foster care, or another privately-arranged adoption. Boys & Girls Aid can provide home studies and post-placement services for child-specific adoptions as well.
