Boys & Girls Aid’s Shelter and Housing programs support young people experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity in Washington County, Oregon.
Our programs provide safe shelter, basic needs, access to affordable housing, and guidance to participants working toward long-term stability. Young people ages 12 through 24* can access up to two years of services from the time of enrollment.

Safe Place Shelter

No referral is required. You can come directly to the shelter 24/7 at 454 SE Washington Street, Hillsboro, OR 97123.
Drop-In Services
10 - 11 a.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. daily
Every morning and evening, Safe Place offers drop-in access for young people ages 12 through 20.
Youth do not need to stay overnight to receive services. Any young person is welcome to stop by to access free food, personal supplies, use laundry and kitchen facilities, and connect with on-site resource staff.
The only shelter in Washington County just for young people ages 12 through 20.
Conveniently located in Downtown Hillsboro, Safe Place is a 24/7 emergency shelter where young people can find a safe place to stay in times of crisis, basic needs and access critical resources, and dedicated, judgment-free help finding long-term housing.

Housing Programs
Boys & Girls Aid’s housing programs help young people ages 18 through 24 who are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity find and access safe, affordable housing while developing the skills and resources needed for long-term stability.
Our Housing Programs Provide:
Housing for up to two years.
Help getting back into school, pursuing a GED, or planning next educational steps.
Assistance finding employment, building job skills, and pursuing career goals.
Guidance building life skills and support networks for long-term stability and success.
Resources for building healthy relationships and a stable path forward.

Young people ages 18 through 24 who are experiencing or are at risk of experiencing homelessness can turn to our Transitional Housing Services for help finding and moving into stable, affordable housing.
Our team provides case management and crisis intervention services, and helps each participant achieve personal goals through connections to mental and physical health care, employment opportunities, tenant readiness, money management, and more.
*A referral through Washington County's centralized intake system is required to participate in this program. To begin the intake process, interested youth, or those acting on their behalf, should request a housing needs assessment in the message section below.

The Compass program helps young people ages 18 through 23 as they transition out of Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) foster care. Participants receive affordable housing and guidance that help them reach and maintain stability and prepare for the next chapter of their lives.
*An ODHS referral is required to participate in this program. Caseworkers assisting a young person with housing placement can fill out the form below to connect directly with our team.
