2021 Survey: Children and Young Adults Share Positive Feedback

Each year Boys & Girls Aid conducts a survey to get feedback from the children and young adults we serve. This survey is an opportunity to hear directly from them about how we are doing and how they are feeling about the services we provide. The confidential survey asks questions about how staff put Boys & Girls Aid’s Core Commitments into practice.

Our Core Commitments Guide Our Work

Our Core Commitments are the foundation of our work, and each day our team strives to:

  • Cultivate healthy environments.

  • Invest in relationships.

  • Authentically value others.

  • Innovate and continuously improve.

In combination with outcome data, this survey feedback helps Boys & Girls Aid identify areas of strength and where we can continue to improve. “It is vital to our continued success that our work places our children and young adults at the forefront of our programming,” said Dr. Suzan Huntington, CEO and President of Boys & Girls Aid. “The success they will have in the program will be carried with them for a lifetime and we take that work very seriously.”

Survey Results

Even during the challenging times of the pandemic, most of the children and young adults at Boys & Girls Aid agree that:

  • Their basic needs were met.

  • Staff were present in their work with them.

  • Relationships were prioritized.

  • They had choices in how they were supported.

  • Staff acted on their behalf.

Serving children and young adults presents a great opportunity to model our core values for younger people. Many of the children we serve have been in unstable environments or have experienced trauma. Because of that, it’s significant to see that the majority of these children and young adults reported positive outcomes with our programming and experienced our Core Commitments in practice.

Comments and Feedback

Children and young adults also had an opportunity to share feedback outside of specific questions. Here are some of their responses:

“Everyone is super nice and I like the feeling of knowing I am safe and respected.”

“(Staff name) really related to me and helped me personally through some hard things. She helped me out of my shell and taught me how to stand up for myself.”

“Staff is nice and easy to talk to.”

“I’m just really grateful for this opportunity, it feels nice to have my own place that I can actually call my own.”
